As part of the New Jersey Statewide Network for Cultural Competence's 2016 Spring Webinar Series, three SPAN staffers, Diana Autin, Jeannette Mejias, and Deepa Srinivasavaradan, presented a webinar entitled "Cultural Implications of Screening for Families from Diverse Backgrounds". Special education is a complicated process. Students do better when their parents are informed about their rights. This 6 session webinar series will provide you with tips, tools and techniques that you need to be an active participant in edcuational decisions regarding a child receiving special education services. This series will provide you with 1) an overview of the major components of the special education process, 2) useful tools to help you through the process and 3) helpful tips & techniques you can use in meetings and school communications. SPAN is a non-profit agency. Each year, we provide a limited number of FREE county-based and regional workshops open to all. We can offer customized workshops and development opportunities for schools, districts, agencies and community-based agencies on a fee-for-service basis. For details, contact our Director of Parent and Professional Development.
TRANSLATION & INTERPRETATION: We offer most workshops in Spanish, as well as English. We can also provide workshops in other language upon request. Sign Language interpretation can also be made available. Please let us know your translation & interpretation needs.
